*The classic requires contemporary intervention. We don't want to be the modern ancient that could only recollect the old staffs. Conversely, by interpreting, critiquing, creating, and applying, the classic, for Department of Sinophone Literature, remains without aging and becomes even newer as time goes by.

*Department of Sinophone Literature was established by a group of pioneering dreamers. For the purpose of probing deeper into literature, they pave another road and open another window. I hope that everyone coming to the Department can also insist on her/his faith and dream with courage and insight.

*I hope that Department of Sinophone Literature is a dynamic space, a open vessel, in which the border of knowledge is not constrained, is dynamic with infinite possibilities, and the content matter of knowledge can keep on growing, proliferating, and per-verting. I hope that students and teachers here can try to practice the alternative way of teaching and learning; that is to say, teacher's knowledge is not in a completed mode; and student's learning is not in a fixed mode either; it means that we should proceed our teaching and learning only by one question to the other question; this is the problematization, a process of proliferation and dissemination from arguing altering and othering.  Actually, in field of learning and studying Sinophone Literature, we (students and teachers) are the same generation; we are standing on the same starting point; we are the contemporaries. We are marching together, and together we are going to re-map the picture of knowledge and practice of our own.
